About

I’m an engineering manager interested in how people build valuable things together. How do groups build trust? How can many people move fast together? How do you hire effectively? What motivates people? Why does software seem so difficult to do well? How do you create a great product? How do you build a great company?

I read books, mostly non-fiction. I like that most things are more nuanced than they appear. I strive to be a Stoic. Kipling’s poem If— is my favourite summary of what I think that means.

It’s a constant work in progress.

I grew up in Sweden, read Engineering & Computing Science at Oxford, was a management consultant in London, worked as a software engineer, co-founded two start-ups, The first company was a VC-backed online learning platform for enterprises. The second was a learning app funded by NFX and Y Combinator’s fellowship programme.

managed engineers at Google, managed engineering managers at Stripe, and I have lived in Switzerland since 2011.
