I’m an engineering manager and software engineer who co-founded two start-ups. The first was a VC-backed online learning platform for enterprises. The second was an idea-sharing app funded by NFX and Y Combinator’s fellowship programme.
I’m always trying to get better at building valuable things; particularly at building valuable things together with others. I’m fascinated by questions like: How do groups build trust? What motivates people? What’s the best culture for a given mission? How do you know what’s valuable? What makes a great product? What makes a great manager? How can large teams move fast? How do technology choices depend on hiring (and vice versa)? What makes software difficult to do well? What makes code good?
I read books, mostly non-fiction. I like that most things are more subtle than they appear. I consider myself a Stoic.
I’m a good learner.
I grew up in Sweden, read Engineering & Computing Science at Oxford, worked in London as a management consultant for a couple of years, and have been living in Switzerland since 2011.
I’ve grown fond of how the Swiss combine pragmatism with an appreciation for quality.
